Avvaiyyar was brought up by a family of Panars, wandering minstrels. From her early years, she displayed a profound passion for poetry and had a deep devotion to Mahaganpati. As she matured, her talents reached remarkable heights. While still a young girl, she was committed to religion and literary pursuits, with a strong desire to serve her community.

Despite receiving marriage proposals due to her beauty and intelligence, she had no interest in marriage. Avvaiyyar beseeched Mahaganpati to bestow her with wisdom and to take away her youth and beauty. Pleased by her devotion, Mahaganpati transformed her into an elderly woman, revealing that her life's purpose was to guide people on the path of righteousness and dharma.

Avvaiyaar embarked on her spiritual journey, educating people on leading virtuous lives and steering them in the right direction.

Moral of the Story :

Avvaiyar became a renowned poet, but she sacrificed her youth. In life, achieving something often requires giving up something else – a fundamental law of nature.
