Program Objective:
The purpose of post-graduate education in internal medicine is to develop specialists who possess the following competencies:
- Apply scientific knowledge, including basic sciences, efficiently in the practice of internal medicine
- Diagnose and manage a wide range of conditions within the specialty, utilizing clinical evaluation and relevant investigations
- Demonstrate empathy, a caring attitude, and maintain professional integrity, honesty, and high ethical standards
- Plan and deliver comprehensive treatment using rational drug therapy principles
- Develop plans and provide guidance for the prevention and rehabilitation of patients in the specialty
- Efficiently manage emergencies by applying Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) techniques
- Identify conditions outside their specialty or competence and refer patients to appropriate specialists.
- Demonstrate proficiency in documenting case details, including epidemiological data
- Contribute to the implementation of National Health Programs in their assigned role
- Exhibit competence in the fundamental concepts of research methodology, clinical epidemiology, and preventive aspects of various disease states
- Act as a motivated teacher, willingly sharing knowledge and skills with colleagues, juniors, and other learners
- Maintain a keen interest in continuing education and utilize appropriate learning resources, regardless of their practice setting
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of their medico-legal responsibilities
- Engage in audit activities, utilize information technology tools, and conduct both basic and clinical research with the intention of publishing and presenting findings at scientific forums
- Recognize and understand mental conditions such as Autism, characterized by self-absorption, impaired social interaction, repetitive behavior, and communication difficulties
