Overview

The Department of Microbiology is at the forefront of research, education, and patient care, dedicated to providing exceptional service and maintaining a safe environment. With prestigious NABL accreditation and ISO certifications (9001 and 21001), our laboratory adheres to the highest standards of quality and reliability. 

Our faculty has made significant contributions to the field, with over 70 publications, including 18 in peer-reviewed journals, 3 copyrights, 2 patents, and 2 authored books. We are actively engaged in over 50 ongoing research projects, utilizing advanced technologies such as Real-Time PCR, Chip-based Rapid RTPCR, BacT Alert, and Vitek systems. The department offers comprehensive microbiology courses across five programs—MBBS, BDS, MD, MSc, and PhD—enrolling over 300 students. Our commitment to innovative teaching methods ensures that students receive a solid education, preparing them to excel in their medical careers and drive advancements in microbiology.

Work Experience: More than 15 years

Dr. Ashutosh Rawat is the Professor and Head of the Department of Microbiology, with over 15 years of experience in the field. He holds an MBBS and an MD in Microbiology. Dr. Rawat has made significant contributions to both clinical microbiology and medical education. His expertise spans diagnostic microbiology, research, and the implementation of advanced diagnostic techniques. 

As a dedicated educator, he mentors students across various medical programs, ensuring they gain comprehensive knowledge and skills. Under his leadership, the department has achieved excellence in research, patient care, and training, advancing the field of microbiology in both academic and clinical settings.
