Department

Overview

Established in 1995, the Santosh Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology has been a pioneering institution in the field of forensic science.
Our department is distinguished by a team of expert faculty, comprising experienced forensic professionals and legal advisors with national and international credentials. We provide state-of-the-art facilities equipped with advanced technology for forensic autopsies, toxicology analysis, DNA profiling, and medico-legal investigations.
A key aspect of our program is comprehensive medico-legal training, offering hands-on experience in postmortem examinations, crime scene investigations, and courtroom testimonies. This practical training prepares students for the complexities of real-world forensic challenges.
The department fosters a research-oriented environment, encouraging innovative studies in forensic pathology, toxicology, and anthropology. Our strong interdisciplinary collaborations with law enforcement, judicial bodies, and other medical specialties enrich the learning experience.
Students benefit from exposure to real forensic investigations, gaining invaluable experience in handling complex cases. Additionally, international collaborations enhance educational opportunities through student exchanges and joint research projects.
Our cutting-edge forensic simulation labs replicate crime scenes and analysis processes, ensuring practical skills development. We also engage in community outreach by offering expert consultations in medico-legal cases and promoting justice through accurate forensic reporting, while emphasizing the ethical aspects of forensic medicine to instill professionalism in our practices.
