Santosh Medical College & Hospital, Ghaziabad, Santosh deemed to be the University had observed the National Health Skill Conclave on Oct 2022.
It was an offline activity, more like a workshop, where Undergraduates of multiple streams participated & attended live sessions.
We, the Department of Pharmacology, also got an opportunity to showcase our skills & enlighten the attendees on the topic, “Pharmaco-Epidemiology”.
The students enrolled for the skill course in large numbers including MBBS undergraduates and a few Post Graduates. There were a few On-Spot entries as well.
The session was divided into two parts. First, a brief description of the topic by me, Dr. Shaktibala Dutta, Head & Professor, Department of Pharmacology.
Pharmaco-Epidemiology is a sum of Clinical Pharmacology & Epidemiology, defined as the usage pattern & effects of various drugs found in the population.
The Pharmacoepidemiology studies result in various outcomes. There can be withdrawal of a drug, addition of a Black Box warning, Precautions & Warning in PIL,
This briefing session was followed by an interactive workshop where the faculty of the department, Dr. Jyotsna Sharma, Professor; Dr. Vaishali B Lote, Assistant Professor; Dr. Ankit Arora, Assistant Professor, and the Post Graduates took the lead.
In this interactive session, all the attendees, were divided into multiple groups & were given an exercise on individual prescription a patient, by the faculties to perform.
This activity was followed by a discussion about the individual exercises & Proformas were collected from attendees.
