Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics

Overview

The Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics was established in 1995 for undergraduates and in 2005 for postgraduates, with an initial intake of 40 BDS seats, increasing to 100 in 2004. For postgraduates, the intake started with 2 seats in 2005 and expanded to 5 in 2021.

We emphasize innovative teaching and learning methods, including mind mapping, infographics, reverse reasoning, and OSCE-OSPE assessments. Our student mentor-mentee system, with a 1:10 ratio, fosters individualized support, complemented by systematic e-communication with parents.

Research is a cornerstone of our department, focusing on research methodology for interns and publishing systematic reviews and meta-analyses. The department has produced five books as outcomes of postgraduate research.

Demonstrating our commitment to community service, we have treated up to 69% of rural patients through outreach camps from 2017 to 2024. To date, 32 postgraduate students have successfully graduated from our program.
