The test is beneficial to detect the presence of congenital heart disease. This allows the baby to have required medical and surgical treatments after birth.
Why Do You Need a Foetal Echocardiography?
Certain women are at greater risk of delivering a baby with congenital heart disease. In such cases, a foetal cardiography is crucial. Other factors include:
Insulin-dependent diabetes.
Exposure to certain drugs during early pregnancy.
Increased nuchal translucency during the first trimester.

What Happens During a Foetal Echocardiography?
The procedure is safe and takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour to complete. It is similar to a routine ultrasound. It may either be done via the abdomen or vagina.

What Happens After a Foetal Echocardiography?
